Conference Overview & Statement of Need:
Borderline Personality Disorder is present in 1-2% of the population, yet little attention has been paid to research and services for patients and their families. In order to focus more attention in this area, NEA-BPD was formed to bring the latest education to clinicians and family members.   Conference Objectives: The objectives of this conference are to improve patient care and to advance the understanding of professionals and families about the complexities of Borderline Personality Disorder. Following this conference, participants should be able to:
1. Identify complex treatment issues for persons with BPD
2. Identify past and current research findings and direction in treating BPD.
3. Increase knowledge of intervention strategies managing BPD therapeutically, including the application of behavioral and exposure techniques to emotion regulation
4. Define a systems approach to treatment of BPD
5. Identify community agencies and resources that work in partnership with individuals and families coping with BPD
